Review highlights
Based on 254 reviewsBuvette de Jaman - Montreux is widely praised for its authentic mountain ambiance, stunning panoramic views of Lake Geneva, and convenient location accessible by train or hiking trails. Visitors frequently highlight the cozy, family-friendly atmosphere, complemented by thoughtful amenities such as a children’s play area. The menu is appreciated for its traditional Swiss dishes, especially local cheese specialties, alongside unique Belgian-inspired options and a curated beer selection. Guests also commend the attentive and caring staff, who prioritize safety and customer well-being. While the eatery is relatively small with a modest menu, its blend of hearty cuisine, welcoming environment, and scenic setting consistently earns positive feedback from outdoor enthusiasts and families alike.
Always a delight to stop at this Buvette! Either after a strenuous hike or a train/ ride, for a traditional swiss dish or for hot drink with a delicious pie. Marvelous scenic views and nice staff.
So cosy! So friendly! The food was delicious and didn't have crazy mountain prices.Super child-friendly with a book and toy corner for kids.New owners/managers since September '22 apparently.
Perfect spot to discover Naye rocks for climing, via ferrata, the cave (a must but dont forget your headlight and be sure your trousers will be dirty). But above all an original cuisine for fine dining from Belgium and the beers that go along.
True mountain atmosphere for all: you can hike it with splendid views over lake Geneva all the way or for the "cheaters" take the train, the buvette is actually the train stop so you literally can drop off the train, into your seats at the table . Small but yummy menu, of course including Jaman-fondue and Croûte, with cheese from the farm next door. My favorite: the Belgian style Carbonade, see pic.
We were doing a two day hike around the area and staying in a nearby refuge and we thought it will be good to hike to the Buvette for dinner. Unfortunately it started raining it was impossible to reach the Buvette. Geert from the Buvette actually called us to see if we were okay to tell us not to try and come as it could be dangerous before we could even try to call and cancel. However, the following morning we went for breakfast and were greeted by Geert and Conchita with big smiles. We felt very welcome and relaxed and it was such a good start to the day. We had Rösti for our breakfast and it was one of the best Rösti we've ever had in Switzerland. The view is fantastic, the service is friendly and fantastic. We throughly recommend you to take a day trip and enjoy this little gem. A & J
Impromptu stop for fondue breakfast(!?!!) the host was very nice and friendly. He even told us that this was the earliest fondue he’s ever served. It was cold but the fondue really kept us warm so we could stay out and enjoy the awesome views from our table. It was a simple meal but definitely my best fondue experience so far.
The host provided a welcoming experience and excellent fondue.
A beautiful place, good traditional food, great staff, a perfect stop.
